Dr. Molly
Courtenay - Reader, Prescribing and Medicines Management, School of

Prescribing Adviser, RCN
Molly is a
Reader in Prescribing and Medicines Management at the School of Health
and Social Care, University of Reading and Prescribing Adviser to the RCN. She is a qualified nurse with a background in Intensive
Care and General Medicine. During recent years Molly has worked within
education. Her specialist teaching areas include the life sciences.
Molly was involved in the development of the nurse-prescribing programme
at the University of Reading and taught pharmacology to nurses on this
programme. She also taught on the extended and supplementary nurse prescribing programme
at the University of
Southampton.
Molly has produced a number of publications for nurse prescribers
including:
Independent and Supplementary Prescribing – An essential guide,
Essential Nurse Prescribing and
Nurse Prescribing
Principles and Practice. She is Editor-in-Chief of Nurse
Prescriber,
dedicated to providing information and education to all health care
professionals involved in prescribing. One of Molly’s research interests
is skin care, specifically, nurse-led treatments and prescribing and
treatment adherence. She is currently undertaking preliminary research
to investigate how the treatment of patients with skin-related
conditions is managed by practice nurses and the patterns of prescribing
by these nurses.
She is also involved in
research for the Department of Health. A national evaluation of
independent extended prescribing. |
